Using an off-set pencil grid as a guideline, the idea was to create a grid using non-touching lines. Each 'square' shares lines with adjacent 'squares' to give the grid as a whole a natural skewed look which exacerbates the original deviancy. Each line and space were ruler-measured (10mm line with a 1mm space) although natural unpredictability adds to the waywardness.
